About us

Landes Audio started in 1944, one year after I was born. My dad, Joseph B. Landesberg, had taught physics and radio for the Army Signal Corp during WWII. On his release from active duty, he started a tv and radio repair business that eventually grew to one of the better sales and repair stores in the Oranges of N.J.

I began working at the store as early as 10 years of age and have literally grown up in the business. On my completion of Army service that included a tour in Vietnam, I joined the business full- time in 1968 to channel our efforts into offering better quality audio & video products. I opened our present store in Chester, N.J. in 1976, placing more emphasis on custom installation.
In the early 80's, I had an opportunity to import the Tangent Acoustics loudspeakers, one of the more heralded British products at that time.

At the same time we also imported Helius tonearms and the "Rock" turntable by Max Townshend.
With the requirements of our custom installation work growing, and with our own curiosity and love of music, we began to design, modify, and improve speaker systems. When Tangent's reversal of fortune put them out of business, we decided to offer our own custom line of loudspeakers under the company name Terpsichore. Since the mid 80's, we have maintained a superior line of custom-made speakers with the customer's size and decoration requirements in mind.

Recent events, such as digital television, DVD, home automation, phone, security, satellite, etc., have not gone unnoticed. We continue to integrate services for our clients and include a lineup of the finest brands and the easiest, user-friendly designs for the homeowner. We bring home automation to a new, affordable level.
